To be honest i am still unclear about what exactly it is i am interviewing for but who cares? its SLUG! >Guest post: Groovin’ at the Sand Trap with Fry Sauce

25 Apr

>
Having never been to the Sand Trap before, I was pleasantly surprised at how laid back and friendly the employees were. I knew right away it was not your regular bar scene. Everyone’s friendly faces and service made me feel like I was right at home.

I have often heard about the groovy beats of the local band Fry Sauce, but I didn’t get the privilege of enjoying their tunes until last night. I’ll tell you one thing, they know how to bust a beat! If you like to chill out, take a load off and just plain have a good time, Fry Sauce is the band for you. Songs like ‘Slacker’ and ‘One Spot’ help you forget all your problems and remember to simply enjoy life. Who doesn’t love a message like that?

Rich Melton and Aaron Meyers on vocals are like the vintage jam rock you’ve grown up to, only with a natural high. Ben Malan and Ben Allred on guitar and bass respectively, had licks that reminded me of the Red Hot Chili Peppers back in the funk days when they were working with George Clinton. Amazing talent is reticent with these guys. Aaron’s skills on the drums are extremely fun to watch. My brother is a drum corps major with University of Utah and professional drum corps across the nation. Even he was impressed with Aaron’s groovy beats.

It wasn’t just the fact that the band becomes your best friend right when you walk in the door or their sheer stamina in playing two sets from 9:30pm to 2:00am, it was the happy-go-lucky vibe they created just by being themselves. Their fans seemed so connected to them that you felt like a member of the family just by rubbing shoulders with them. And I dare you to try and keep yourself from dancing! I’ll definitely be back to the Sand Trap to hang out with Fry Sauce again.

>Today is the perfect example of the transition from winter to spring, sprinter if you will. The sun is shining, the sky is blue and there is a thin layer of snow on the ground. It’s not too cold, not too warm and nothing has bloomed quite yet here in Ogden, Utah. Spring is on the cusp, i can feel it in my bones and my skin aches for months of sunshine. Yesterday i got some lovely news. i was awarded a blog award by the lovely Trissta at “living on the chic” blog. Her blog is all about living chic on the cheap. i know we can all relate to that! she gives herself a monthly budget and then blogs about how she makes its all happen . So my picks for blog awards are these 5 incredible blogs:
Delightfully Tacky– when i need style inspiration this is where i go. She had diy tutorials, beautifully creative outfits and amazing hair! From her blog i learned how to make a faux bois fridge, that blowfish shoes is amazing and that mixing prints is a good thing. check out her blog i just know you’ll love it.
The beehive blog: life with the queen– This lady is a local Utah blogger and she is very much in the know. check out this blog to learn about all the good things in Utah and to find out about all the cool people too. if there is a queen bee in Utah this lady certainly is it.

It isn’t east being a single parent but single dad laughing does it with grace. I have been addicted to this salt lake city blog for a while and i just know you will be too.

Yesterday was amazing. The sky was blue, the sun was shining and i barely even needed a jacket. I haven’t been on my bike in a few days and was itching to ride So the babe and i bikes into downtown to meet Bryan for a family date. Our go to place in downtown is always Roosters, we never seem like a burden being there and the food is always great.

Today i plan on going to the tree house museum, the best place to exhaust your kids ever. The trick is to play with them but not too much. For instance point out something cool and say’ race you there’ but pretend run while they bolt. By the end of your trip they are ready for a 3 day nap and you still have enough energy to catch up on your cheesy 80’s sitcoms.
